@UncleVinny@yakkoTDI Just an FYI: Dots are a “Pride Of North Dakota (my home state)” product! They are the bomb dot com in my book! Original is still awesome, but if you can find them near you, they make a whole-wheat pretzel with their honey-mustard variety, and they are fantastic!!
@roscoe_baby@yakkoTDI they’re so bloody good! I’m not sure if they make them anymore. I think Utz bought Zapps, which makes my little Cajun heart so sad. Hopefully they haven’t ruined them if they do still make them!
@sillyheathen
Oooohhh. Fancy!
I used to work with a doc who jokingly called our hospital cafeteria “the ptomaine tavern”. I was amazed at how few people knew that term anymore.
Well since @chienfou stole my answer sort of not really even a little, if I were going to get something, it would be a sparkling water and probably a piece of fruit or fruit cup.
UNLESS I was driving on I49 and stopped at the French Market Fuel. I would procure a crawfish pie and a spicy meat pie, mini pear frangipane(if they still have them), fresh squeezed lemonade and a bottle of sparkling water.
@sillyheathen
You’re a better person than me.
When I drove from San Francisco to Central Alabama over the span of three + days recently in an RV with no A/C I subsisted largely on the Circle K “mega-big-gulp-bucket-o-diet-Dr-Pepper” and salt&pepper pistachios from Costco.
@chienfou the salt and pepper pistachios are made of crack. I see nothing wrong with this choice. Other than I’d eat the entire bag. I didn’t really snack much on my way from Louisiana other than grabbing the meat pies in Natchitoches. They really are amazing from that gas station. It’s one of those little gems. Much like the mobile out of the east side of Yosemite. You could drive there and watch the sun set over mono lake whilst sipping a mango margarita, eating poke and watching someone on a trapeze.
The only service station I stop at and go in is Buc-ees. I am either getting Beaver Nuggets or one of their bbq sandwiches. Probably a soft drink as well.
I never go in. Road trips are about getting from point A to point B in an efficient manner. If I have to stop for gas, I pace about wondering what this is doing to all the math I’ve done calculating our exact time of arrival.
@capnjb
In order to keep awake on the 18-hour drive from Boulder to St Louis (during the 55 mph interstates speed limit days) I would calculate miles per gallon, time to next gas station stop, time to final destination, minutes til sunrise (I tried to time it to avoid driving into the sunrise/sunset) etc in my head to keep awake.
@chienfou When Jenny and I were early in our relationship we took a road trip… I think it was from Tampa to Daytona. I was watching the speedometer, odometer, clock and mileage markers. She saw me moving my lips silently and asked what I was doing? My only response was…
@chienfou Although on the return trip we did hit every exit that said it had a Publix to see if they had the Pilgrim Salt and Pepper shakers. I think we made it home with three pairs
Gatorade/Powerade & a bag of Cheetos were my go-to back when I did a lot of traveling. More likely now on the odd occasion that I am mobile, it’s fuel up the vehicle, use the urination station, get a bottle of water, and hit the road once again.
Root beer and Chester’s Hot Fries.
@yakkoTDI ever had Dot’s Pretzels? They’re kind of amazing.
@UncleVinny I have not even heard of the brand.
@yakkoTDI keep an eye out! They’re delectable. https://www.hersheyland.com/dots-pretzels
@UncleVinny @yakkoTDI
…and NOT cheap…

POPSOCKETS! SPA KITS! POLLY POCKETS! AWESOME!
@chienfou @yakkoTDI yeah, they’re kinda expensive. But if they weren’t, I’d weigh 450 pounds by Christmas,
Zaps crawtators
@roscoe_baby or dill gators!
@roscoe_baby @sillyheathen
I need to track these down.
@roscoe_baby @yakkoTDI they’re so bloody good! I’m not sure if they make them anymore. I think Utz bought Zapps, which makes my little Cajun heart so sad. Hopefully they haven’t ruined them if they do still make them!
@roscoe_baby @sillyheathen Apparently they are still made.

@roscoe_baby @sillyheathen @yakkoTDI
…and voodoo chips.
@chienfou @roscoe_baby @yakkoTDI I like the spicy voodoo. But yes. Zapps made the best chips growing up!
@sillyheathen

A large bag of Doritos and a Coke.
pepperoni
Pepperoni pizza with that cheese simulation also on top.
@phendrick
My wife always called that sawdust due to the additional cellulose they add to help prevent clumping.
Bottled water, assuming there are rest stops along the way.
@heartny
Another benefit of traveling in an RV! The world is your restroom…
Diet Crystal Pepsi Free
@UncleVinny what is that?
@catthegreat the snack of my imagination!
Coffee and a big York peppermint patty
Coffee with plenty of sugar. Quick energy and Caffeine, to keep me moving on down the road.
Food poisoning
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@chienfou hahahahha I was going to say dysentery!
@sillyheathen

A hot dog.
@tricityladytn off the roller cookers in rest stops. Yum!
Some bubble gum, and Bugles, the crack of snack foods.
@Oldelvis I’d skip the gum, but I do love Bugles!
Cheddar cheese combos and Dr Pepper and water, always have to have water with me.
I’m snapping into a Slim Jim.
Chips

I need input.
@chienfou Although on the return trip we did hit every exit that said it had a Publix to see if they had the Pilgrim Salt and Pepper shakers. I think we made it home with three pairs
@capnjb
Why does this remind me of Short Circuit
@capnjb @chienfou because Johnny Five is ALIVE!
@capnjb @chienfou
@capnjb @sillyheathen
Still love the “re-assemble Stephanie” line with the dead grasshopper…
@capnjb @chienfou I still love those films so bloody much!

Pringles. Always Pringles. I don’t know why I associate them with road trips, but I do.
@ItalianScallion I can pound an indefinite number of pringles. I don’t even care what the flavor is
@capnjb Agreed, but I’m partial to the plain ones.
Taquitos/tornados/whatever cheese-and-jalapeño-filled tortilla thing they have on those roller cookers.
Ice cream
I usually don’t buy anything as whatever is sold there is way more expensive than what I already have in my cooler or the junk food I brought with me.
@Kidsandliz
My take has always been if I’m buying gas it’s okay to use the restroom. If I’m not buying gas then I need to buy something in the store…
@chienfou @Kidsandliz SAME!!! No matter how many times I stop and think, oh it’s fine… I am incapable of leaving without purchasing something!
